Small Schools Program

Free science incursions for Victorian public schools with under 100 students
The Small Schools Program brings high-quality STEM experiences directly to remote and regional primary schools, giving students the chance to explore science through engaging, hands-on learning. Designed to build essential skills, knowledge, and confidence, each workshop blends demonstrations, experiments, and interactive activities that support critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Eligible schools receive four incursions per year, one each term. Every visit focuses on a different STEM topic, allowing students to explore new ideas, deepen understanding, and develop a lasting enthusiasm for science and technology.
Eligibility
Available to primary schools with 100 students or fewer
Must be a government primary school in Victoria
Must be a regional or remote school
What’s Included?
Four free science incursions per year (one each term)
All workshop materials and equipment supplied
Curriculum-aligned, hands-on activities
Delivery by trained Discovery education staff
