Tongues, Fangs and Scales Reptile Show
On the 20th and 21st of August 2010, as part of National Science Week, Discovery welcomed Herpetologist Peter Carter. His hour long presentations gave everyone the chance to get up close and personal with some slippery characters who are very often misunderstood and left everyone with a new appreciation of these prickly personalities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

La Trobe University Science and Technology Careers Day
On the 18th August 2010, as part of National Science Week, Discovery hosted the La Trobe University Science and Technology Careers Day. The day was attended by a number of school groups and helped students to gain a better understanding of where a science and technology career could take them. The day included hands-on workshops and presentations from senior academics and/or post graduate students. The subjects covered  included Maths, Nanotechnology, Pharmacy, Civil Engineering, IT, General Science and Psychology just to name a few.

 

 

 

 

 

 

'Our Changing World' Photography Challenge
In the lead up to National Science Week 2010 Discovery was on the hunt for the next great science photographer of our times, so we launched the ‘Our Changing World' Photography Challenge. The challenge asked entrants to be inspired by the changing world around them and share their discovery with us through a photo ... and we certainly weren't disappointed! Tavis Eenjers won the 12 and Under category, Lucas Whiteford the 15 - 18 years category and Cristina Mazzarino won the 19 and over category.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Discovery was invaded by Daleks during Easter!
On the 4th and 5th of April 2010 Discovery was invaded by Daleks. Created by Andrew Corson, visitors to Discovery had the opportunity to get up-close to his creations and see if they really are as evil in real life as they are on the Doctor Who series. The Daleks also took part in the Bendigo Easter Gala Parade.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Discovery celebrated its 14th birthday with one of the spookiest parties of the year!
All guests dressed up to celebrate and enjoyed a Halloween science show, participated in messy lab experiments, plummeted down the drop of death and explored the sky above in the werewolves' den.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coliban Water Ames Room
Coliban Water and the Discovery Science & Technology Centre have joined forces to create an exciting new exhibit at Discovery called the Coliban Water Ames Room. The Coliban Water Ames Room is a distorted room that is used to create an optical illusion and was launched on Monday 19 October 2009 at Discovery.
