• Do you have ramp access? Yes, the ramp is located next to the Vertical Slide and is reached via the green corridor.

  • Do you have a parents/baby changing room? Yes, the parents room is located down the green corridor.

  • What time do you close? Discovery is open everyday from 10am-4pm. Discovery is closed on Mondays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Australia Day, the month of February and all public holidays except those that fall within the Victorian School Holidays. 

  • Can I hire Discovery as a venue for my party/event? Yes – discuss this further with our Bookings Office on (03) 5444 4400

  • How old do you have to be to come to Discovery? People of all ages can visit Discovery, but children under 12 must be accompanied by someone over 16 years of age.

  • Is there anything for little kids here? Yes, Discovery has a special area called Kaleidoscope especially for children 6 and under.

  • Are there any shows? Yes, Discovery hosts different themed science shows each school holidays. In addition, there are also daily Planetarium shows. These run once each week day (1:30pm), twice during weekends (11:30am and 1:30pm) and school holidays (11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm). Planetarium shows have a new theme each school holiday period.

  • Do you have to book or pay in advance for shows? No – all shows are included in Discovery’s general admission. No bookings are permitted for the Planetarium Shows, and tickets are distributed on a first-in, first-served basis.

  • What is appropriate clothing to wear when visiting? Shoes and socks; and if you are interested in riding the Vertical Slide we provide overalls for you to wear.

  • How old/ big do you have to be to ride the slide? Sliders must be at least 5 years old and above.

  • How high is the vertical slide? The Vertical Slide is seven metres high; the tallest in the Southern hemisphere.

  • Will I hurt myself on the slide? No, because the angle at which the slide is curved means that no matter which point you come in contact with the slide your speed ensures that you don’t go splat.

  • How fast am I going when I go down the slide? 30 to 40 kilometres an hour.

  • What was the Discovery building used for in Bendigo’s history? It was previously a Railway Goods Shed.

  • What’s the Auditorium used for? Fun things happen in the auditorium such as live science shows, functions and sleepovers.
