Looking for a unique location to host your child’s birthday party? Have loads of questions? Read on to find out how simple it is!

1. When can I have my party?

Discovery hosts birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays

2. What time can I have my party?

During term time we have three time slots to choose from:

  • 10 am
  • 12pm
  • 2pm

3. How long will my party go for?

Your party will go for 90 minutes.

4. Where will my party be held?

You will have exclusive use of our Lab!

5. What happens during the party?

When you arrive, your party will be set up and ready to go in the Lab.

You will be introduced to your very own Party Person, who will be looking after you for your visit.

Your guests will be sent into the Lab as they arrive, where they can leave their belongings and then proceed into the centre to play.

Fifteen minutes after the start time (to ensure everyone has time to arrive) a loud speaker announcement will call all the party guests back to the Lab where food will be served.

After this, your chosen science show will begin! A fun interactive time with all the little kids…and the big kids too.

Time for cake! Sing happy birthday and blow out the candles, we will cut the cake and distribute it for you so you can focus on the precious moment photos.

Head on out to the Vertical Slide and exhibits, time to work off that cake!

Make your way back to the Lab for party bags and pick up.

6. Can we stay longer?

Yes. You can stay in the Centre as long as you like after your party until we close at 4pm. However, you will have to remove your belongings from the Lab, as we will need to clean and prepare this space.

7. Can I bring extra food?

Yes, you can bring food, just be aware that we can’t store it, so make sure you can cover it or eat it straight away. In our experience, there isn’t much need for extra food and it will go home with you again!

8. Do you supply the cake?

No, we supply all the food, drink and take away party bags; the cake is an opportunity for you to really add that personal touch to your child’s party.

9. What do I need to bring?

Just the cake! We supply the food, plates, napkins, a colourful party space, party bags and a sharp knife for cutting the cake. If you are keen to bring decorations like balloons then you are welcome to do so, just take them with you when you leave.

10. What about really young ones and adults?

Discovery caters birthday parties for 4 and over. Any younger siblings won’t be charged. Parents and adults are not charged, but we recommend that you keep the amount of adults to a minimum.

11. What about food allergies?

Our menu options include dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free and nut-free choices. We have vegetarian options also. If you have other food allergies or requirements, please arrange food for this child and let us know.

12. How do I book?

You can go to our birthday party page and book your party online. Alternatively you can call in to the centre and speak to our staff, call us on 5444 4400, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

13. How much & How do I pay?

Birthday packages cost $25 per child, with a minimum booking of 10 children (including the birthday child). We require a deposit of $75 before your birthday (plus an additional $40 charge if you have chosen the Explosions show) and the remaining payment on the day. The $75 deposit is taken off your total price.

We will contact you the week of your party to ensure the food and show choices have been made, and any changes to numbers are noted. We prefer payment to be made on the day of the party to offer some flexibility and not before, as we are unable to offer a refund on prepaid parties if not all the children attend

14. What else?

A Quote which includes information you need for your party will be sent at the time of booking.

Your choices for food and shows are available on the birthday party page.

There is a ten child minimum to book a party and a maximum of 20.
